Course Description

This program combines intensive expert instruction with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Learning System®, enabling participants to learn faster, retain more knowledge, and focus on future certification. The Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP™) and Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP™) credentials are the new global standard for human resource professionals, and our program is designed with these modern business needs in mind. Certification exams and credentialing are not associated, or included with, the University of Miami, the Division of Continuing and International Education, or the Office of Professional Advancement certificate programs. Participants who complete a certificate program are independently responsible for certification requirements, costs, and fees, and are encouraged to view the certification website and contact test administrators to find out exam details and logistics.

Course Outline

Offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the curriculum provided in the SHRM Learning System is designed by global subject matter experts and covers the entire SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge™ (SHRM BoCK™). Throughout the program HR professionals are encouraged to acquire the Competencies and Knowledge they'll need to effectively perform their jobs and achieve career success. Quick facts about the program: SHRM Partnership: This program is in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management and offers participants an interactive environment where they can learn the valuable concepts needed to pass SHRM certification exams. Classes are held by SHRM-approved instructors who use real corporate examples to bring concepts from the SHRM Learning System® to life. Program length: “The program is 8 weeks long. The program offers starts 2 times a year. The program is offered in a live online format twice a week in the evening.

Exam Format and Length
  • Computer-based testing (CBT)

  • 130-150 questions (knowledge-based and situational-judgment test items)

  • Approximately 3 hours in length

Certification Cycle
All credentials are valid for three years. Recertification is required every three years through demonstrated professional development (preferred method) or retaking the exam.
