Effective project management is integral for improvement of organizational performance. The focused development of hard and soft skills pertaining to project management is fundamental for those seeking to work in project management. The development of skill sets specific to PMBOK® in knowledge areas and process groups, with application-based learning, will prepare program participants for all facets of the project management process across a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Project Management Certificate program, the participant will be able to demonstrate proficiency in:
- Understanding the PMBOK® knowledge areas and process groups (Project Management Institute’s (PMI) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).
- Implementing the PMBOK® processes of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing a project. Applying knowledge and skills to successfully manage projects.
- Demonstrating the ability to manage a project throughout all key stages of the process.
- Understanding professional conduct expected by industry professionals and the Project Management Institute.
- Satisfying the education requirement to qualify to take the PMP® or CAPM® exam (see www.pmi.org for additional information about the PMP® or CAPM® eligibility requirements

Notes
Program is offered in a Self-Paced modality, as it allows learners to study on their own time throughout the week. However, the Program has a defined start and end date, with no option to extend completion beyond its published end date. In addition, to ensure learners are able to complete the Program within its published time frame, there are specified deadlines and due dates for assignment and assessments (exams) submissions (no extensions may be granted).
Certification exams and credentialing are not associated or included with UM's certificate programs. Graduates or participants of UM's certificate programs are independently responsible for certification requirements, costs, and fees and are encouraged to view the certification website and contact test administrators to find out exam details and logistics.
The Project Management Professional Certificate is not a test preparation course for the PMP® or CAPM® exam. If you are planning to sit for exams, you should register for the PMP exam preparation course.

What is Handshake?
Handshake is a career services platform created for students and alumni to use in their career development. It's used by over 200,000 employees, including all Fortune 500 companies! Thousands of internships and job opportunities are posted on Handshake by employers specifically looking to hire students.
All students have a Handshake account that is automatically created for them once they begin their program of study at the U. Once you receive an email notification, all you have to do is log into Handshake to activate your account. Handshake will then recommend certain positions to you based on your profile allowing for easy searching. Comparing and updating your profile will provide Handshake with a better idea of which job interviews/internships listings you may be interested in.

For accessing certain resources, students may need to go through UM IT authentication and enter their CaneID and passwords. Students can retrieve their CaneID and password at: https://caneidhelp.miami.edu/
Students are also able to check out books in person. To do so, they may stop by the Access Services desk to pick up a library card on their first visit to the Richter Library Building, located at Otto G. Richter Library Building, 1300 Memorial Drive, Coral Gables, Florida 33146.
