Understanding the Cuban Government & Its Relationship to the US

Course Description: The course will analyze the relationship between Cuba and the US mostly between 1959 to the present by looking at the political history and key players on both sides.

Week 1:
   Introduction to Course: A Forced Marriage Between Cuba and US

Week 2:
   Cuba’s Social, Economic and Political Conditions prior to 1959

Week 3:
   The Cuban Revolution and the US Reaction

Week 4:
   The Cold War: US, Cuba and USSR.

Week 5:
   After Fidel: Inside Cuba Today and the Cuban Exile Community

Week 6:
   The Obama Attempt at Change in US-Cuba Relations to Today’s US Cuba Policy
